Native Values
The practices and traditions of native peoples were, and still are, very much based on their relationship and connection with the earth. From spiritual ceremonies that used sage leaves to cleanse the body to the giving thanks for the harvest with the change of seasons, native people honored the earth for the blessing of life and guidance she provided.
Unlike the technological world of today, many of the traditions of old were orally passed down through the generations through stories and experience. We continue this practice by creating experiences that allow our participants to gain more balance and clarity in their lives by strengthen their relationship to the earth. Environmental Values
Lead Feather honors the Great Law of the Iroquois that states: "In our every deliberation, we must consider the impact of our decisions on the next seven generations." In an environmental sense, we see this as a direct call to action to preserve and protect our natural resources. As a way to realize this declaration, our journeys and summer youth programs connect people to the Earth in an emotional, physical, and spiritual way. By uncovering these connections, our participants will be empowered to make choices in their daily lives that will lessen their impact on the Earth.
We are collaborating with local businesses to help owners and management define, achieve, and maintain environmental goals; we give tools and usable means to operate as green businesses. Lead Feather intends to be a catalyst for positive environmental change whether it is big or small. As a business ourselves, we hold ourselves to the same ideals. We are continually monitoring and brainstorming methods to lesson our carbon footprint while striving to only have our environmental impact be a positive one.
